‘United we stand’ still stands.

Going all the way back to Aesop’s fable of the sticks or even before this idea has been part of man’s psyche. We all know this to be true, so why is it that as teams and companies we tend to put self interests ahead of all others? I would guess that there are as many reasons for this as there are team members and company employees. And yes, it is possible for individual players to "will a win" but this generally only happens against weak opponents. Sooner or later we all have to pay the piper yet when we pay, we pay as a unit.

Collectively we have a choice: We can win as a team or lose as a team. What more consideration of the matter is needed?
